About the Temple
Shri Mukhyaprana Lakshmivenkatesh temple is located in Molkod, an island village situated on the bank of the Sharavati rivar, around 7 km east of Honavar in the Indian state of karnataka. The temple is dedicated to the Hindu gods Mukhyaprana ( Hanuman ) and Laxmivenkatesha.The temple comes under the administration of a committee of 10 members ( known as 'Dha Jan' ) and supervised by Shri Gokarna Parthagali Jeevottam Mutt. The temple has devotees from all over Molkod irrespective of caste and religion.The old temple was solidly built long back with large stones and neat ancient architecture. The renovated temple is built with simple yet beautiful Granite stones and marbles were used to build the temple. It is of length 40 meters (120 feet approx.). Temple's Gopura is around 50 feet height from the ground.
Legend
Shri Mukhyaprana Lakshivenkatesh Temple has glorious history of 33 years. The God in the temple was previously worshipped by the Acharya kutumbikas in Molkod. Later, in the year 1990 god was handed over to the samsthas of Molkod. New temple was built and the Pratisthapana Mahotsava was held on 14 February 1990. Pratishtapana was done by his holiness Shri Shri Vidhyadhiraja Shreepada Vader swamiji of Shri Gokarna Parthagali Jeevothama Mutt. It was the day of Magha Krishna Panchami.located in around 18 cents of space.
AVATAR AND INCARNATION
The main deities of the temple are Lord Shri Lakshmivenkatesha and Lord Shri Mukhyaprana (lord Hanumantha). The idol of lord Mukhyaprana is main attraction at the temple. The idol of lord Lakshimivenkatesha is present at the center among the all idols. There are other idols of various avatars are of lord Vishnu present as well. The design of all these idols are said to be very old.
LORD MUKHYAPRANA
The idol of lord Mukhyaprana is made up of stone. It is said
that it was found near in a well near the temple and went in to the
hands of Acharaya Kutumbikas who offered it pooja. It can be
clearly seen to the people standing in the temple Lord
Mukhyaprana has is facing the east direction and is considerably
bigger than other idols. He has lifted his right hand in a blessing
position. His left hand is resting on the hip and also holding gadha
with the same. Tail comes around him from the right side in a
semicircular manner with a bell hanging on top of it.
LORD LAKSMIVENAKTESHA
The idol which is at the center is the most beautiful one ,
where Lord Lakshmivenkatesha is sitting with his left leg being
folded and right leg touching the floor. Godess Lakshmi is sitting
on the lap and to the left of Venkatesha. Both are sitting in a
position to bless people.
GODESS AMMA
The idol of goddess AMMA is positioned to the bottom left of
idol of Shri Lakshmivenkatesha. This idol is said to be brought
from Shri Amma temple Mavinkurva, Honnavar taluk. Goddess
Amma in the idol is Ugra awaroopini is in the position of killing a
Rakshasa.
Besides, small idols of Lord Ganapathi, Lord Garuda and
Lord Hanumantha himself are present near the idol of Shri
Mukhyaprana.
